I think I can with certainty say I'm past the halfway point with this. there's not that much random dialogue left to make up
I can only hope the switch works as intended on other computers, since a different timing left them mid-transition. it seems like it doesn't interrupt the bubbles switch but it's only if the menu switch/shell reset comes at a specific point before it 🤔
sakurascript is really weird with calling functions, but I Think if you call it as a variable ( %(function) ) it doesn't interrupt the script?? maybe??

Eurydice has to leave her children in Skyhold for their own safety after their home is blighted. She is on her knees trying to reason with her oldest children, Psyche and Farron, because they are 11 and 10, respectively, and they're so old now.
Psyche has been training with her wooden sword; Papae said before this that someday soon, she might get to wield a real one.
Farron has been studying magic with the Keeper and his mentor, Kieran! He knows how to cast a fire with his hands now!
They can help! They can go with her!
And Eurydice has to hold them and beg them to listen, to understand. "No, stay children as long as you can. Play with your siblings, listen to your aunts and uncles, eat and sleep. Dream of good things. If you must do anything for me, do that."
Eurydice couldn't save them from seeing the terror of the world this young, but she won't steal their youth from them. She won't have them grow up too soon, not now, not when they can be protected. Farron tries to understand, but he's always been the more sensitive of his children. He weeps against her but stops asking her to take him.
Psyche refuses to understand. Her eldest child who tries to play the hero. Perhaps it was her fault for letting her hear those old war stories. She thinks of herself as braver and bigger than she is. She resents her with tears in her eyes; why should she stay a child? Why can't she fight? Eurydice can only kiss her forehead and tell her one day she will understand. One day she will treasure the childhood she had, even among the wreckage of a blight.
Cullen watched this happen and turned away, covering his face so she couldn't see him overwhelmed by his tears.
The other children are hard but easier. Bridget is only five, she is only aware of so much. That her mother is leaving and one of her fathers will be following after her in a few weeks. But she is safe and in a fairytale castle with pretty dresses and big gardens to play in. It will distract her long enough. Eurydice cradles her in her arms and tells her to be good for Papae and Babae (Bull and the Chargers have been "contracted" as bodyguards for the children, but Bull needed little excuse to stay with his child or the rest that he has all but adopted as an uncle to). Bridget cries because that is what she must do, but it is better she does so now over the temporary separation than a real one. Maybe one day, the heartache won't even be a memory.
Lir clings to Cullen's leg and refuses to look at her. Cullen had told her that a few days prior, he had watched him put on his old armor and burst into tears. The sheer notion of both of them going back to war had shaken the headstrong, wily eight-year-old enough to grab his father's hand (the father he loved to annoy and prank and laugh at) and beg him not to die. Now, he can only look to the ground when Eurydice comes to him and touches his golden curls. Asks him to be kind to his father and the rest of Skyhold, at least until she comes back. She whispers into his hair as she holds him that he's good at making others smile. When she lets go, he runs back to Cullen's leg and hides his face into his side. He doesn't want her to see his tears.
Finally, she finds Zander on his own. Remote and cautious. He had already seen how cruel the world was before Lir and her found him starving and huddled in a charred ruin. It doesn't shake him like others when she announce she'd be leaving; some small part of him still didn't trust her or Cullen not abandon him. Or maybe it's the world he doesn't trust not to take them away and leave him alone once more. Either way, when she comes to him, he doesn't cry or bargain with her. He looks at her with his sea-foam eyes and simple acceptance, and this is what needs to happen. He nods somberly when she asks him if he remembers what she said two years ago when she brought him home. "That we would make the world safe for you."
That's what she must do now. He will be safe in this place with his family, and when she is done, he will be safe when he leaves these castle walls. Trust her to do that.
Zander doesn't say if he will, but he holds her a little tighter than the rest before she gets up and goes. His scent lingers on her the longest--for some reason, he always smells like the sea to her. When she's in Minrathous, and overlooks the water, she will remember his eyes, and her heart will ache.

The idea that a god-like character with (supposedly) unlimited powers should snap their fingers at the end of a TV series and remove all pain and terrible things in the world so humans no longer had any suffering is the most BAFFLING thing I have ever heard. WHY DID THE SHOW EVER EXIST IF FIXING THINGS WAS THAT EASY??????
#It seems like this 'gotcha' card that overrides any argument someone could have#but it's actually the laziest zero thought behind it belief I have ever seen#And it complete ignores the function and structure of a story#Holy shit#Like... that's literally Adam and Eve before Eve ate the apple#That kind of utopia is literally in the Bible and in general is considered bad#It was certainly painted as bad in the show! Because Eve gave us free will and choice and the opportunity to self-determine who we are#And that's good! That's considered better than the Garden of Eden!#And yes choices have led to the godawful structures in place on Earth today and all the godawful death and suffering that goes with it#BUT THIS STUPID LITTLE TV SHOW ABOUT THE DEVIL WASN'T SPEAKING ABOUT ALL THE EVILS IN THE WORLD!!!#It was talking about how you always have a choice to do better! That everyone can be redeemed!#It's a much MUCH narrower scope because that's what story does! It picks one thing and speaks to it#And sometimes that thing is indeed Wow modern capitalism has completely fucked the world like The Good Place showed#But even The Good Place didn't use the Judge to snap her fingers and change Earth#She could have! She certainly had the power too!#But no instead they argued against wiping out the entire Earth and starting over in favor of revamping the afterlife instead#to allow people a second chance and support to do better#Which is EXACTLY where Lucifer ended up too with the titular character playing therapist in Hell#That is a strong ending! That is a hopeful ending! Because it's speaking to the audience as individuals and saying you have a choice#You always have a choice to do better. No mistake you make is too irredeemable so don't let yourself drown guilt#because guilt fixes nothing. Only your choice to try again can change things#God snapping their fingers and rewriting Earth is not a hopeful; realistic; or satisfying ending to a 6 season show about free will!#It makes no sense!#like jfc I don't want to drag one singular person through the mud but their opinions are just so mind-boggingly to me#It's like beating my head against the wall

i think all games should have some kind of dev console available but especially like AA studio games, i think they've forgotten their place in the grand design and also the fact that people playing their games will experience what feels like nonstop soft and hardlock progression bugs and need some kind of defense against that

Holy God This Is All So Boring
i am taking microscope images of the cells i'm studying. the cells were grown on a glass plate before i fixed them (killed & chemically preserved), so by default a microscope image of them is taken from a camera below them, looking up through the glass. they're stained with fluorescent dyes for four different proteins, so every single picture has to be repeated four times with a different laser light illuminating the cells (imagine taking a photo with a red filter, a blue filter, and a green filter, and then composing them all together to get the full picture. it's actually almost exactly the opposite of that, but that's close enough).
i care mostly about how the cells are shaped in three dimensions, and i'm using a laser which is specially shaped so it can collect only a very thin slice of the cells in the Z-direction, without interference from the parts of the cells just above or just below what i'm taking pictures of. as a result, i need to take lots of pictures at different depths in the cells, so i can get slices that i can stack on top of each other and get back a 3D shape. also, because i am using a tiny concentrated beam of light to achieve the above effects, it has to scan across the image to collect each picture, like a scanner; it can't just be collected in a single snapshot like a photo.
the distance between one slice and the next is less than a quarter of a micrometer. i'm using a 63x magnified magnifying lens to magnify the image, and the light detector that picks up the light is specially made to allow the images to be processed even further, so i can resolve structures that are less than 200 nanometers, which is the Abbé limit and is the technical resolution limit of light microscopy (don't worry about this). i care about things that are the size of, like, three proteins stuck together, and therefore maybe 10nm wide, so this is important to me.
all of this is, you know, scientifically great, very useful to me, i'm getting some very interesting results that i am genuinely looking forward to thinking about more, except the upshot of all of this is that just getting a single picture of two cells from the bottom to top of the cells involves 80-100 slices and takes like 27 minutes per image to collect, and i need at least six pictures tonight, and certain bastards in certain other labs habitually pre-book the microscope so i can't use it except at 5-9pm on a friday. no one else is here in the lab and my mother is busy with elder care and my girlfriend is busy with like, groceries, so i can't call either of them even if i weren't too irritable to be good company, and oh my god, i am so bored, i am so so bored, i am bored enough even to type out this whole explanation even though none of you could possibly care because it took most of my current round of waiting for 27 minutes to do

Thoughts on isopods? Do you have a favourite type? My favourites are clown isopods, or greek shield isopods. Isopods <3
Any critter still using gills to breathe on land is good with me. By which I mean, they're creatures where it's clear to see the transition from being a water dweller to a land dweller and idk that sparks joy for me. I just love when the use of body parts change. I haven't seen enough species or morphotypes to have a solid opinion on which I like best but anything cute and flat like the Greek shield isopods appeal to me 🖤

Scream into the void. Stare into the abyss. But what is holding you right now? Always present. Always there. A scream that you've heard for so long its faded into the background. A stare that held for so long you no longer notice it. The aether says hi. It wants to talk. BECAUSE YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO IT!

Functional Safety Market Demand, Analysis, Trends and Future Opportunities 2034: SPER Market Research
Tumblr media
Functional safety is the component of safety that guarantees a system or device responds to inputs appropriately even when there are flaws. It is accomplished by the identification of possible risks, evaluation of related risks, and use of risk-reduction strategies. Functional safety is used extensively in sectors where malfunctions could cause injury, such as medical equipment, industrial automation, automotive, and aerospace. Standards like IEC 61508 (general safety) and ISO 26262 (automotive) are cited. Redundancy, fail-safe procedures, diagnostic coverage, and reliability engineering constitute key components. Minimizing failures and guaranteeing safe operation from system design to decommissioning are their goals.
According to SPER market research, ‘Global Functional Safety Market Size- By Device, By Systems, By Industry - Regional Outlook, Competitive Strategies and Segment Forecast to 2034’ state that the Global Functional Safety Market is predicted to reach 12.25 billion by 2034 with a CAGR of 6.51%.
Drivers:
The need for practical safety solutions is greatly fuelled by the growing automation of sectors including manufacturing, power generation, and oil & gas. By simplifying procedures and lowering human intervention which is essential in settings where accuracy and dependability are critical automation improves operational efficiency. The need for sophisticated functional safety systems is being greatly increased by the growth of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). More devices and systems are being integrated into industrial processes via IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) technology, which creates new challenges and possible hazards for operational safety and cyber security. In this situation, functional safety systems are essential because they are made to control and lessen these hazards by guaranteeing the safety and dependability of industrial activities.

Restraints:
Adoption may be severely hampered by the high upfront costs and complexity of putting in place functioning safety measures, especially for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).  Furthermore, incorporating new systems into current processes can be challenging and need specific expertise and abilities that the company may not have on hand. The expense of managing and maintaining these systems is further increased by the requirement for specialist staff. These operational and financial obstacles may be too costly for many SMEs, which causes them to postpone or skip implementing functional safety systems in spite of their advantages. This disincentive effect emphasizes the necessity of affordable solutions and support systems to enable wider adoption, particularly among smaller businesses.
The global position was held by North America. The need for sophisticated functional safety solutions that can guarantee safe and dependable operations in complex environments is being driven by the growth of AI and ML applications across sectors. Some significant market players are ABB Ltd., DEKRA Group, Emerson Electric Co, Endress+Hauser Management AG, General Electric Company, HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH.
